The American sailing landscape is witnessing a major resurgence as a classic name prepares for its next act. C & T Composites, LLC, a Florida-based marine manufacturing firm, has officially acquired the assets and intellectual property of the iconic Catalina Yachts and True North Yachts brands.
The announcement, spearheaded by C & T Composites CEO Patrick Turner and member John Chen, marks the end of a brief, uncertain hiatus for Catalina. Earlier in June 2026, the prior company’s inventory—including molds, hulls, and equipment—was slated for a public liquidation auction. C & T Composites stepped in to secure the historic brands, vowing to protect their legacy while charting a modernized path forward.
Preserving a Legacy, Rebuilding in America
Founded in 1969 by Frank Butler, Catalina Yachts grew to become one of the most successful and prolific builders of production sailboats in history, crafting beloved models like the Catalina 22, 27, and 30. For decades, the brand epitomized practical, sturdy, and accessible family cruising.
C & T Composites aims to build directly on that foundation. Based out of Largo, Florida, the company is focusing its immediate efforts on reconnecting with the existing dealer network, establishing ties with critical suppliers, and opening lines of communication with passionate Catalina and True North owners.
Key to this revival is a commitment to keeping production domestic. C & T Composites has expressed its intent to bring back experienced personnel and restart production lines in the United States, utilizing their specialized expertise in composite boatbuilding and product development to maintain the structural integrity and reliability the brands are known for.
